Owner Aaron Burchat grew up in Cobourg with a skateboard in hand and pavement underfoot. From an early age, skating wasn’t just a hobby — it was a way of life. Over the years, he became known not just for his skills on a board, but for his dedication to the community around him.

Aaron’s dream was always to open a local skate shop — a place that felt authentic, where skaters could get quality gear, talk skating, and feel right at home. That dream started to take shape with the support of his wife, Lindy, who was instrumental in turning vision into reality. From business planning to day-to-day operations, Lindy has been right there every step of the way — helping to bring Burchat’s Skate Shop to life.

But Aaron’s commitment to Cobourg goes beyond skating. He’s also an active member of the community — serving on Cobourg Town Council and as a proud member of the Rotary Club. That same dedication to service and connection fuels everything at the shop.

A big part of what makes Burchat’s special is the mission to welcome the next generation of skaters. Aaron and Lindy believe strongly in encouraging kids to try skateboarding for the first time. Whether it’s helping them pick out their first board, giving advice on safety gear, or just cheering them on as they learn, the shop is all about building confidence and community — one push at a time.

In 2022, the doors officially opened, and Burchat’s Skate Shop quickly became more than a place to buy gear — it became a hub for local skaters, a space for community, and a symbol of what can happen when you follow your passion and give back to the place you call home.
